Opportunity at a Glance: Over 80,000 students in NYC public schools live in temporary housing, including the nearly 30,000 who live in homeless shelters. The Afterschool Reading Club (ARC) is a shelter-based literacy enrichment program. Teachers will lead engaging reading experiences, provide homework help, facilitate arts, and engage with parents and families. The program is open to K-5 students in 18 shelters as a 3-day per week after school program. Per session is available.
Key dates: Beginning in late October, through June.
Location: Citywide, 18 select shelters.
