“Saving” George Washington at the New York Historical Society

Opportunity at a Glance: Consider the central role women played in the formation of our nation. From Dolly Madison, famous for saving the portrait of George Washington during the war of 1812, to her contemporaries in the new capital city, to antebellum reformers working to expand the meaning of “We the People.” Participate in an interactive tour of Saving Washington and take home the Saving Washington curriculum guide. Pizza will be served. $15 per person.
