Culturally Responsive Emerging Teacher Leaders Program

Open to: Teachers with 3+ years experience.

Opportunity at a Glance: In early 2016 NYC DOE partnered with Teaching Matters and developed a strategy for supporting a teacher leadership pipeline in the city’s highest needs schools. This spring, NYC Men Teach, in partnership with Teaching Matters, is piloting a teacher leadership pathway focused on culturally responsive education. This developmental pathway for teacher leaders offers focused support through four workshops to build a set of critical competencies, presented through a culturally responsive lens, that are assessed and recognized with evidence based microcredentials. This competency-based approach is aimed to improve the overall quality and diversity of the teacher leader candidate pool.
