Opportunity at a Glance: NYC Teaching Fellows is currently seeking Lead Instructors, Teacher Development Coaches, and Training Academy Directors for summer 2017. This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role, gain experience managing and developing adults, and shape the path of future teachers and students in New York City schools. - Teacher Development Coaches observe and provide feedback to a group of 10-15 Fellows on their teaching performance. They develop individual Fellows’ teaching skills through sequenced interventions, in-lesson modeling and support, and one-on-one conversations, as well as planning and executing responsive skill-building experiences for groups of Fellows.
- Lead Instructors plan and facilitate skill-building sessions, in which Fellows see specific teaching skills modeled, then practice and receive feedback on their performance before using the skills with students in summer school classrooms.
- Training Academy Directors play an integral role in the success of PST by managing a team of 5-12 seasonal staff members toward ambitious goals throughout the spring and summer, ensuring a smooth implementation of Field Experience, and serving as a site-wide leader before and during training.
Key dates: April 2017 – August 2017 (exact schedule varies by role).
Location: You will be assigned a public school site in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, or the Bronx.
