Opportunity at a Glance: The application period to teach during Summer in the City is now open. Summer in the City (SITC) is a chance to take part in exciting summer learning for NYC students. This year, the calendar includes an additional two hours to the summer school day for grades 2-8 (8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) and for certain enrichment programs. Students who participate in the New York City Department of Education’s summer enrichment have access to:
- New curriculum
- College-level and STEM-oriented programming
- Sports activities
- Educational visits to museums, zoos, parks, and libraries
These programs are not just fun, they teach students academic and life skills that will help them succeed in the next school year and beyond.
Key dates: SITC runs from Wednesday, July 5 to Thursday, August 17. Hours vary depending on the enrichment program and grade level.
Application deadline: Tuesday, April 25.
