Become A Universal Literacy Reading Coach for K-2 Teachers

Open to: Early elementary teachers (with demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction).

Opportunity at a Glance: The Universal Literacy Initiative, part of the Mayor’s and Chancellor’s Equity and Excellence agenda, is expanding in the 2017–18 school year. Applications are currently being accepted for Universal Literacy Reading Coaches to work with elementary school teachers during the 2017-2018 school year. All reading coaches will receive training from local and national acclaimed leaders in the literacy field, and will be part of a network of instructional leaders across the City.

Under the Universal Literacy Initiative, elementary schools will receive support from a reading coach who will help teachers of grades K-2 build their instructional knowledge base and skill level in literacy.

Application deadline: Friday, June 16.

Location: Various elementary schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
