New NYSED Requirements for Certificate Registration and Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE)

Open to: All classroom teachers with a permanent or professional certificate or paraprofessionals with a Level III Teaching Assistant certificate issued prior to July 1, 2016.

Opportunity at a Glance: On Wednesday, May 10, you received an email about new registration and continuing education requirements from the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Under a new State law, as a holder of professional school leader or classroom teaching certificate, you are required to register with the NYSED’s TEACH system during the 2016-17 school year. All school leaders and classroom teachers with a permanent or professional certificate or paraprofessionals with a Level III Teaching Assistant certificate issued prior to July 1, 2016, should register on the TEACH system during the 2016-17 school year.

Registration deadline: Friday, June 30.

Take action: Register with the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) TEACH system and renew your registration every five years.
