New Teacher Week Kicks Off Next Monday

Open to: Teachers newly hired by the NYC DOE for the 2017-2018 school year.

Opportunity at a Glance: New Teacher Week is the NYC DOE’s annual five-day professional learning and welcome event for teachers beginning a career in New York City public schools. The exciting week will kick off next Monday with a keynote address by Chancellor Carmen Fariña and UFT President Michael Mulgrew followed by a New Hire Fair staffed by DOE and UFT vendors. Some of the many vendors at the New Hire Fair include:

  • WeTeachNYC — Get introduced to the online space for educators to connect to resources, learning experiences, and colleagues.
  • ASPDP — NYC DOE teachers can credit ASPDP courses towards their salary differential +30 requirement and professional development hours requirements.
  • Office of Leadership — Learn about leadership and mentoring opportunities at the NYC DOE.

Key dates: Monday, August 21 — Friday August 25; 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.

Location: Four event sites, including Brooklyn, Manhattan and The Bronx.
