Teaching Reading Comprehension to Students with Learning Difficulties

Opportunity at a Glance: Join us for a study with Sharon Vaughn, PhD to examine instructional supports for increasing comprehension with students in grades K-12 who have learning difficulties. In this session, Dr. Vaughn will discuss ways to assess comprehension, build the skills that good readers rely on, and teach students to use multiple comprehension strategies flexibly and effectively. Participants will leave equipped with numerous comprehension strategies to support their students with learning difficulties. The day will conclude with a reading and discussion with author Grace Lin who has written “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon”,”Starry River of the Sky”, the “Ling & Ting” series, “Dim Sum for Everyone!”, and many more. Participants will receive several copies of Ms. Lin’s books. Breakfast will be provided.
