Best Practices in Reading & Writing: Instruction for All Students

Open to: Middle school and high school English teachers.

Opportunity at a Glance: Join us for a workshop with Kelly Gallagher, known for his books looking at what we know about best practices in reading and writing instruction including high volume reading, modeling strategies, student choice and fostering deep analysis. The day will conclude with a reading and discussion with Young Adult book author, Steve Sheinkin. Thinking about how the author writes will inform how we as teachers teach writing. Participants will receive several of Steve Sheinkin’s books as well as Kelly Gallagher’s book “In the Best Interest of Students”. Teachers will leave this workshop with strategies to bring back to the classroom to support students in their reading and writing work. Breakfast will be provided. This workshop is eligible for CTLE credit.
