Equipped for Reading Success: Teaching Phonemic Awareness & Fluent Word Recognition

Open to: All school-based staff K-12.

Opportunity at a Glance: Receive training in the use of Equipped for Reading Success, an innovative intervention program that teaches phonemic awareness and fluid word recognition. It is easy to implement by the teacher and is engaging for students.
The workshop will be conducted by David Kilpatrick, author of the program and a prominent authority on assessment and intervention. During the workshop he will review the research that identifies best practices. All participants will receive a copy of the Equipped for Reading Success manual. Teachers will be able to utilize the program immediately but further study of the manual will allow for more extensive implementation of these highly effective approaches.

Workshop date: Wednesday, January 24, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Location: Barnes & Noble, 150 East 86th Street, Manhattan
