Opportunity at a Glance: The Billion Oyster Project (BOP) provides an inquiry-driven STEM curriculum that engages students and teachers in restoration research in NYC’s marine ecosystem, and an opportunity to get up-close and personal with New York Harbor. During this 3-day professional learning institute, teachers will learn how to monitor live oysters and complete other environmental monitoring protocols. Each school will be given starter materials for their own classroom oyster tank. Discuss how to integrate BOP into their curriculum and be introduced to hands-on activities. Each day of this institute will focus on a different unit of BOP curriculum: Oyster Tank Investigation, Stewardshed Investigation, NY Harbor Populations Investigation. This opportunity is eligible for CTLE credits.
