Open to: English as a New Language (ENL), English Language Arts and social studies teachers in grades 6-8; teachers who provide Stand-alone and/or Integrated ENL services to ELLs.
Opportunity at a Glance: This two-day professional learning opportunity is designed to support participants in understanding how to use the Socratic approach to ELL instruction. The workshop will address the questions of how to leverage the Socratic seminar as an academic language and content learning approach with ELLs, and what the suggested implementation guidelines are and how to apply them. Participants will also practice using the instructional tools introduced during the sessions to support the application of knowledge and engage in purposeful planning time.
Event dates: Monday, January 8 and Tuesday, January 9.
