Opportunity at a Glance: Our previous post offered resources to support with planning aligned student self-assessments. Student self-assessment can be a powerful driver of learning. In this professional learning activity, you will learn about student self-assessment strategies and how to determine which one will best support student learning in your next lesson. Participants will reflect on a teacher receiving feedback from students and discuss how this model of feedback could positively impact instruction and levels of trust in a classroom. Then, they will develop a plan to implement and respond to a cycle of student feedback in their own classroom or school environment.
As a reminder, teachers have access to 70 Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) eBook titles to supplement and strengthen their practice. Some titles that connect to student feedback include:
- Managing 21st Century Classrooms: How Do I Avoid Ineffective Classroom Management Practices? (Book 38, p. 19).
- Teach, Reflect, Learn: Building You Capacity for Success in the Classroom (Book 60, p. 27).
