Open to: Elementary and middle school teachers (Grades 3-8).
Opportunity at a Glance: This workshop is specifically designed for teachers who are interested in participating in the Soap Box Derby Mini-car racing and potentially the large Soap Box Derby Competition Race (to be held in NYC, Spring 2019). Teachers will get a kit of materials to get started with the Soap Box Derby Mini-car race in their schools and will learn how to build a full size Soap Box Derby car as well as experience all that is involved in the bigger Soap Box Derby Competition. The Soap Box Derby Competition could be a great family involvement project for schools and/or an after school STEM club with the opportunity to race against other kids in NYC and the possibility of additional competitions beyond that.
*Special Note: This is a co-offering with the NYCDOE District 75 STEM Team who is hosting and facilitating this workshop for District 75 schools. This is open to any teachers of students in grade 3-8. There are curriculum alignment documents to NY State Learning Standards.
