Lambda Literary LGBTQ Writers in Schools Program

Open to: All Teachers.

Opportunity at a Glance: The DOE Writers in Schools Program pairs an LGBTQ author with students to discuss the author’s book. Teachers who participate in the program will be awarded a set of books and an in-person visit from the author for up to 30 students. Teachers admitted to the program will be given a list of potential authors and books to choose from. The application is open to all school staff, including librarians, Gender and Sexuality Alliance Advisors, and principals. Visits can be a class read or book club. School staff admitted to the program will be asked to attend a full-day professional development on including the incorporation of LGBTQ themes into curriculum. This is a free opportunity, all costs are covered by the DOE and Lambda Literary Foundation.
