Join Solar 1 for a hands-on exploration of solar energy at the NYC Solar Schools PD (Middle School)

Open to: Middle school teachers.

Opportunity at a Glance: Participate in a 3-day training series focused on solar energy hosted by the DOE Office of Sustainability and Solar 1. The NYC Solar PD includes a combination of hands-on activities that give context for why solar is important – such as an introduction to power plants, fossil fuels, renewable energy and climate change- and hands-on solar activities and experiments. Teachers will be provided with a materials toolkit, lessons, standards alignment including NGSS, and more. This training is eligible for CTLE credits.

Key dates:

  • North Brooklyn: Friday November 30, Tuesday January 22, and Tuesday March 12; 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Manhattan: Tuesday December 11, Thursday January 24, and Wednesday March 20; 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Washington Heights: Thursday December 13, Thursday January 31, and Monday April 1

Location: There are sessions currently offered in Brooklyn and Manhattan. (Click on the register button for more details).
