Opportunity at a Glance: This full-day workshop explores the research on fluency and its relationship to proficient reading. It will explore strategies for building reading fluency in students in grades 6-12 who struggle with reading, including methods of repeated readings, Readers Theater, choral reading, shared reading, and computer-assisted methods. Options for assessment of fluency and documenting response and progress will be demonstrated. The afternoon will consist of training in the use of the Great Leaps fluency-building program for grades 6-12. All participants will receive a kit of all Great Leaps materials needed to begin using in their school. This event is CTLE eligible.
