Opportunity at a Glance: The Brooklyn Institute offers evening seminar courses in the humanities and social sciences taught by talented scholars from a variety of disciplines, and they have received a grant that allows them to offer classes to public school teachers at a discount: just $100 per course, which is 70% off their normal tuition. Teachers who attend can earn CTLE credits (12 hours per course). Teachers can take one class per session. Some courses coming up this spring include:
- Dante’s Divine Comedy
- Introduction to Feminist Film Theory
- Science, Race and Colonialism
- Godel’s Incompleteness Theorems
- Introduction to Political Islam
- Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights
- Philosophy of Mind
- Michel Foucault
- Virgil’s Aeneid
Key dates: Courses take place weekday evenings in March and April
