Chancellor’s PD Day at the Tenement Museum

Open to: All teachers. One section will be geared towards upper elementary teachers, but could be useful for all.

Opportunity at a Glance: Participants will take the Under One Roof tour where they will visit the recreated homes of three families to learn about what life was like for Jewish refugees, Puerto Rican migrants and Chinese immigrants on the Lower East Side in the decades after WWII. By exploring the digital exhibit Your Story Our Story, participants will gain resources to support instruction that encourages cross-cultural understanding, and learn about a platform for students to share their stories and see themselves as a part of history. To wrap up the day, participants will delve into brand new resources created for our upper elementary immigration curriculum. Cost: $10.

Key dates: Thursday, June 6.

Location: Tenement Museum (103 Orchard Street New York, NY 10002).

Registration Deadline: June 4.
