Pond Ecology, NGSS and Beyond! Linking Classroom STEM with Primary Sources [Workshop]

Open to: STEM teachers.

Opportunity at a Glance: History and English classes often have students read and analyze primary sources, yet this rarely happens in a science class. In this workshop learn how to integrate microscopy results and other scientific primary sources into your lessons! Workshop leader Evie Alexander will share the NGSS-linked resources she has developed, freely available on her website. Create a year-long curriculum centered around pond microorganisms, review primary sources about these microorganisms and brainstorm ways to use this rich database of articles in your lessons. Participants will choose from over 100 NGSS-linked articles! CTLE is available. Cost: $19.99.

Key dates: Saturday, November 16, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Location: Teachers College, 525 W 120th Street, Zankel Hall.

Registration deadline: November 16.
