Practical Teaching Strategies to Support Students’ Development of Print and Digital Literacy Skills

Open to: Elementary Teachers; Middle School Teachers. 

Opportunity at a Glance: In this workshop, explore promising practices for using new technologies to foster deeper thinking, collaboration, reflection, and personal voice in elementary and middle school settings. Dr. Julie Coiro will present practical ideas for how to address the needs of students who may struggle with literacy skills in print and digital. Walk away with strategies and resources to use and adapt to your classroom needs. Renowned children’s and YA author Joseph Bruchac who has written Two Roads, Skeleton Man, How Chipmunk Got His Stripes, and many other titles will conclude the day with an author’s talk. Participants will receive a few of Joseph Bruchac’s books. CTLE is available.
