Educator Workshop: The Art and Science of Materials

Open to: K-12th Grade Educators
Opportunity at a Glance: Join us for a three-part series of virtual workshops focusing on the intersection of art and science.  During these workshops participants will go behind the scenes and learn how Met scientists and conservators study and conserve a vast range of materials in the collection, from textiles to plastics, paint, and stone.

In addition, participants will discover how scientific and imaging tools allow us to understand art in new ways, explore the process of inquiry involved in authenticating works of art, and learn how conservators determine how to care for objects in the collection. Work with Met educators and fellow teachers to share practical classroom strategies for the arts and science.
