Teaching about the Evolution of Sharks in the Context of the Nature of Science

Open to: 6–12 Grade Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: During this two-day online workshop, we will examine some of the content featured in the exhibition Sharks, which is open through August 2023 at the Museum.

Teachers will during this two-day workshop:

  • Participate in activities that explore how recent fossil discoveries and the use of new imaging technology hone our understanding of where sharks and where their relatives sit on the tree of life of vertebrates; and
  • Will be introduced to the fundamental rules of cladistics and tree thinking in order to understand how new findings change evolutionary hypotheses.

This two-day workshop is free and offers 6 CTLE credits upon completion.
