Opportunity at a Glance: During this 90-minute session we will highlight the what and the why of phonemic and phonological awareness in English and Spanish literacy development. Participants will do the following during this session:
- Build an understanding around phonological awareness, phonics instruction, and cross-linguistic transfer in bilingual and dual language settings:
- Learn how to implement the Spanish curriculum in their classrooms, after building a background in phonological and phonemic awareness; and
- Become familiar with the progression of skills for the Spanish curriculum over the course of the year and a comparison of how the English and Spanish curriculum will be provided.
