Open to: Bilingual Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: Join us in a conversation with Mitch Ingram about the pedagogical uses of humor in bilingual classrooms. Mitch Ingram will discuss how jokes and wordplay are excellent conduits for emergent bilinguals to think meta-linguistically, demonstrate creative language use, and situate joy as part of the formal curriculum. Mitch Ingram will also highlight strategies teachers can use to bring a little laughter into their lessons.
Participants will learn how humor can be used as a social, cultural, and linguistic fund of knowledge and explore how to incorporate jest and laughter in learning activities.
Eligible NYS educators will receive 1 hour of CTLE credit.
