Enhancing Teacher Pedagogy to Support Transitioning and Expanding English Language Learners Responding to Complex Text – 3 Part Series Grades 9 to 12

Open to: PARTICIPATION CRITERIA:  Must register as a school team of one assistant principal and two teachers (1 ENL Teacher and 1 ELA teacher) Participants who chose to attend the 2nd or 3rd sessions must commit to attending all three sessions.

  1. Wednesday March 17th, from  4:30p.m – 5:3p.m. –  Increase educators’ ability to enhance Expanding English Language Learners degree of response to complex text in writing, explore vocabulary/language use, model analysis & text interpretation, scaffold/enhance response to complex texts in writing.
  2. Wednesday April 14th from 4:30p.m. – 5:30p.m. –  Educators will use student data to                               brainstorm/support and prepare Expanding English Language Learners for state assessments, by scaffolding the learning   process/articulating expectations clearly.
  3.  Wednesday April 21st from 4:30p.m. – 5:30p.m. –  Educators will incorporate student samples,    evaluate the effectiveness of implementation of strategies/graphic organizers and determine next steps.

Key dates:  Wednesday March 17th from  4:30p.m – 5:30p.m; Wednesday April 14th from 4:30p.m.- 5;30p.m.  and Wednesday April 21st from  4:30p.m. – 5:30p.m.
