Opportunity at a Glance: Students, families, and teachers need extra support in the wake of the last year’s traumatic events. Physical Education (PE), one of the only content areas with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards and learning outcomes embedded in its curriculum, can play an important role in providing that support. Presented by OPEN and sponsored by the Office of School Wellness Programs, this session defines SEL, explores the relationship between SEL and PE, and shows teachers how they can foster safe, empowering, and healing environments throughout their school communities. It features the “Believe in You” social and emotional learning empowerment series.
