Visual Reading: Classical Art in The Modern English Classroom

Open to: All Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: Join Rachel Himes, an educator at The Frick Collection and Ph.D. student at Columbia University. During this session we will explore the artwork that continues to raise issues critical to community, identity, perception, and self-expression.

In addition, methods will be shared, with parents, that promise to help students do the following:

  • Move from observations to analysis;
  • Value diverse points of view; and
  • Articulate how texts are in fascinating conversations with each other.

No previous knowledge of art is required.
