Opportunity at a Glance: Join us at 30Q291for a Lighthouse Visit. During this Lighthouse Collaborative visit, participants will learn how Hunter’s Point Community Middle School (HPCMS) utilizes competency-based education to deepen literacy practices across content areas. Visitors will explore curriculum, assessments, and end-of-unit project materials while experiencing competency-based teaching in classroom visits. At the end of the session, visitors will attend breakout sessions to support the incorporation of these literacy practices into their own work.
This Lighthouse visit will highlight the following:
- How competency-based grading deepens literacy work across content areas;
- Classroom practices that support differentiated, standards-aligned mastery; and
- Curriculum, assessments, and end-of-year projects that demonstrate competency-based learning.
**Online grading programs that align mastery-based grading to DOE systems.
