Building Community Resilience in a Changing Climate: Training Series

Open to: Grades 3-12 Educators
Opportunity at a Glance: Join the Office of Energy & Sustainability for a training series exploring the “Urban Heat Island Effect” and give your students the tools to become citizen scientists and environmental justice activists.  Using a classroom set of heat mapping tools (yours to keep), we will discuss how students can design their own investigations to collect data to identify the following: at-risk neighborhoods, evaluate the effectiveness of different action strategies, and present their findings.

  • Up to 15 CTLE credits
  • Substitute coverage provided
  • This series is three sessions: two in-person, one virtual

**Apply with a co-applicant from your school by Monday January 8.

  • Grades 3-5: Monday January 22; Thursday February 29 and Wednesday April 3 (virtual)
  • Middle and High Schools: Tuesday January 23; Friday March 1 and Wednesday April 3 (virtual)
