Apply for Our Drilling into 3-Dimensional Learning with the International Ocean Discovery Program Workshop

Open to: Grades 6 -12Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: In 2011, a 9.0M earthquake and associated tsunami devastated Japan and resulted in over 19,000 deaths.  During this session, participants will join a Museum Educator for a virtual tour of the drilling vessel Chikyu, anchored off the coast of Japan, where onboard scientists analyze samples from the ocean floor to gain insight into the mechanisms that lead to such destructive natural hazards.  In addition, participants will see for themselves how scientific ocean drilling research sheds light on Earth’s mysteries, speak to scientists at sea, and come away with access to free curriculum resources that support three-dimensional learning.
Key dates:  Thursday November 21 from 4:00p.m. – 6:00p.m.
