Exploring Nature Based Solutions in NY Harbor

Opportunity at a Glance: Join the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), NY Sea Grant, and SUNY Maritime for a half‑day, in‑person professional learning experience along the Long Island Sound waterfront. This program is open to NYC middle and high school teachers interested in exploring resources and opportunities related to NYC harbor water quality, including stormwater management, green infrastructure, estuary ecology, ecological restoration, bio‑extraction and nutrient removal, and environmental stewardship.

Participants will also engage in hands‑on activities while exploring the Long Island Sound aboard SUNY Maritime’s research vessel.
