Chancellor’s Day Virtual Workshop: Teaching the History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict with Primary Sources

Opportunity at a Glance: The Arab-Israeli conflict remains a deeply sensitive topic, often viewed through the lens of ancestral, religious, or ethnic identities. Because of this complexity, many educators feel hesitant or unprepared to address it.
Through the lens of historical documents and critical inquiry, this interactive, 3-hour workshop uses primary sources to analyze the rise of Zionism and Arab Nationalism and to trace pivotal moments in the conflict from the late 1800s through the mid-2000s, including the successes and failures of the peace process as well as unresolved issues.
