Opportunity at a Glance: College Awareness Day will be held on January 10. In support of College Awareness Day, wear your college gear, review and utilize a collection of resources which are available on WeTeachNYC, and in all DOE languages, to help your school community prepare for the day:
- College Access for All – Middle School “College-U” Curriculum: Includes a 10-module interactive collection designed to engage seventh-grade students in early college awareness. In particular, see module 1 “Why College?” to help students measure what they already know about college and to debunk myths surrounding whether college is a viable option for all students.
- College Access for All – Middle School “Family-U” Curriculum: Includes eight, parent-facing modules to engage families in early college-awareness activities. In particular, see module 1 “Why is College Important To My Family?” to help families identify the various benefits of attending college. See the “CUNY Family Guide” for information for parents interested in going back to school.
- College-Going Culture Toolkit: Includes a collection of ideas and fun activities for you to use in promoting college as a future prospect for your students.
- College Access for All — Middle School Family Toolkit: Includes guides for middle school families to help them guide their student to college.
