What’s Working: Civics Reconsidered? Part II with Rashid Duroseau (Democracy Prep Charter Middle School), A. Marisa Harris (Williamsburg Preparatory School), and Amy Strassler (NYC iSchool)

Open to: All Full-Time Pre K-12 Classroom Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: How do you get kids to understand they can make a difference?  How do you get them involved?  How do you give them the skills they will need to make things better?   Three Academy Fellows will share the following:

  • Projects on a school-wide approach to current events;
  • Rhetorical analysis as a way to make students eager;
  • Thoughtful speakers; and
  • The value of a deep dive into the history of mass incarceration.

Following the presentations, participants will meet in small groups for a more intimate discussion with other great teachers.

CTLE credit offered. This program is open to Academy for Teachers Fellows and full-time Pre K-12 educators.
