Opportunity at a Glance: The 2026 Spring Institute, offered by the NYU Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies in collaboration with NYU Gallatin, invites Grades K–16 educators to develop inquiry- & place-based lessons that connect New York City to global histories.  Through 4 in-person workshops held from March–June, participants will explore mass politics, migration, and partitions while working with guest experts and peers to create classroom-ready, project-based assignments aligned with the NYC Social Studies Scope and Sequence & Civics for All.

Full completion of the workshops is required to receive the following:

  • $1,000 stipend
  • 35 CTLE hours
  • NYU certificate
  • Curricular resources

Key dates: 

  • Friday March 6 – Workshop 1: Mass Politics
  • Friday April 3  – Workshop 2: Migration (during NYCPS Spring Recess)
  • Friday May 1 – Workshop 3: Partitions
  • Thursday June 4 – Workshop 4: Sharing Lessons (Chancellor’s Day)
