Arabic Poetry, Palestine & Mahmoud Darwish – A Three-Session Master Class with Robyn Creswell (CTLE credits available)

Open to: Full-time PreK-12 Classroom Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: Mahmoud Darwish brought the power of verse to bear on many political crises, including the displacement of the Palestinian people, the civil war in Lebanon, and the Oslo Accords.  At his death in 2008, he was widely considered the national poet of Palestine.

During this three -session Master Class will focus on the following: 

  • In the first two sessions, Yale’s Creswell will offer an introduction to Darwish and the great tradition of Arabic poetry.
  • In the third session, participants will exchange ideas with other brilliant teachers.

Participants will complete a small amount of homework for each session.

This program is free for public and charter school teachers.  Participants will be selected by application and nomination.
