Opportunity at a Glance: Examine the origins of the Civil War. This seminar will focus on the role of slavery and antislavery as factors of disunion; aspects of the war itself; and the contested memory and legacy of the war, in both commemoration and popular culture. The online seminar will be hosted by the Gilder Lehrman Institute, in partnership with the American Civil War Museum. Led by Professor Catherine Clinton (University of Texas, San Antonio) and master teacher CherylAnne Amendola.
