The Black Liberation Reading List for Teens: A Pathway to Enhance Student Engagement

Opportunity at a Glance: Join us for a conversation with Shauntee Burns-Simpson, The New York Public Library’s Associate Director for School Support and Outreach.  During this session participants will explore how to use the library’s Black Liberation for Teens Reading List, as well as free, ready to implement, text-based resources to enhance our efforts at building a more inclusive classroom.   Specific attention will be given to fostering a love of reading, particularly amongst at-risk teens.

Ms. Shauntee Burn-Simpson is the current President of the Black Caucus of The American Library Association and chairs the Association’s Office of Diversity, Literacy, & Outreach Services Committee on Diversity.
