Applied Panarchy in Environmental Science (HS)

Open to: STEM Teachers, high school, environmental science and science teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: The Applied Panarchy in Environmental Science (HS) workshop will explore active learning strategies for deepening understanding of crucial concepts in environmental and sustainability science and help effectively implement a student-centered and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) aligned approach to science education. 
Participants will do the following during the workshop sessions:

  • Engage in thought-provoking experiments and activities to be used in the classroom;
  • Observe instruction from the point of view of a student (“student-mode”);
  • Learn the claim, evidence, reasoning (CER) framework, Social Ecological Systems (SES), transdisciplinary thinking;
  • Learn how to use panarchy as tools to probe student thinking.

Key dates: Monday July 11- Friday July 15 from 9:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.
