Opportunity at a Glance: Why was Haiti’s Black-led revolution such a frightening vision to colonial powers? Join us in a conversation with Dr. Leslie Alexander about the ways nineteenth century Black communities throughout the African diaspora, inspired by the Haitian Revolution, called for abolition, equality, and sovereignty across the Americas. Dr. Alexander will discuss key themes in her new book, Fear of a Black Republic, which explores the way the Haitian Revolution created an international beacon of hope for Black liberation.
