Opportunity at a Glance: M.S 137, America’s School of Heroes, is a 6th – 8th grade school located in Ozone Park, Queens. We are a community of diverse learners and cultures that celebrate our differences through creating a community of togetherness. During this Lighthouse Collaborative visit, participants will learn how to embed CRSE (Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education) practices in daily and long-term planning. In addition, participants will gain insight into immersing students in the learning process by implementing relatable texts, instructional strategies, and affirmations to promote student engagement, higher-order discussion, and a growth mindset.
