Opportunity at a Glance: Why does the banjo, rooted in early American history, continue to capture the American imagination? Join Met educators and curators in an exploration of the rich musical and visual history of this timeless instrument. During this workshop participants will do the following:
- Gain insight about the history and traditions of banjo music in America.
- Learn about this instrument’s influence on the music of today.
- Discover The Met’s Musical Instruments galleries.
- Listen to a banjo performance.
- Develop connections with music and social studies curricula.
