Explore the “Queering New York” Video Series Focused on Sites Connected to LGBTQ History

Opportunity at a Glance: The NYC LGBTQ Historic Sites Project has produced ten new “Queering New York” videos that are part of an on-going series.  The videos, each under seven minutes long, focus on sites connected to an LGBTQ person, group, or event. Topics include the following:

• James Baldwin
• Manford Family
• Transy House
• Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop
• Alice Austen & Gertrude Tate
• Lorraine Hansberry
• Christine Jorgensen
• Gilbert Baker’s Rainbow Flag Workshop
• Lavender Menace Action
• Gay Activist Alliance Firehouse

Students can connect with LGBTQ historic sites in NYC on topics related to classroom studies including humanities and social studies.

Key dates:  Ongoing in May 2024 and throughout the year.
