Opportunity at a Glance: LGBTQ history is American history. The NYC LGBTQ Historic Sites Project has ten new short videos dedicated to topics such as sports, protests, musicals, public art, and poetry.
These free videos teach LGBTQ place-based history to high school students through sites connected to a person, group, or event. Students can connect with LGBTQ history on topics related to classroom studies including humanities and social studies.
Its previously produced “Queering New York” series, focus on: James Baldwin Residence; Riis Park Beach; Queens Pride Parade; Transy House; Lorraine Hansberry Residence; Gay Activists Alliance Firehouse.
Key dates: Ongoing in December 2025 and throughout the year.
