Hogtown, NYC: Teaching Civics Through Pigs, Trash, and Conflict

Opportunity at a Glance: Join the Center for Educators and Schools for an interactive professional learning session introducing Hogtown, NYC, a new civics curriculum guide for grades 3–5.  This case study draws from the Library’s archival collections to uncover how 19th-century New Yorkers debated trash, public space, and the responsibilities of government through the surprising history of hogs in the city’s streets.

Eligible NY State teachers will receive 1 hour of CTLE credit for their participation.
