Answering Tough Questions: Teaching Consent in the Classroom

Open to: All Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: It can be so important to talk to students about consent and boundaries so they can feel safe in our world.  Join the New York Public Library’s (NYPL) Center for Educators and Schools in a conversation with the Schools Consent Project to learn ways to help students define boundaries, feel empowered to speak up, and understand the impact of sexually abusive behavior.

This lawyer-led workshop will define important topics in sex ed through a legal framework, including an explanation of consent, the age of consent, and crucial questions about online behavior. The Schools Consent Project prepares educators to answer difficult questions that students may have.
