Opportunity at a Glance: This professional learning opportunity will utilize the Department of Social Studies and Civics Hidden Voices publications. These resources examine those who are often “hidden” from the traditional historical record. These individuals influenced the social, political, cultural, and economic landscape of the United States in so many ways, and their contributions continue to shape our collective history and identity. Using Hidden Voices: LGBTQ+ Stories in United States History as a model participants will consider how the inclusion of diverse voices in the social studies curriculum enriches all students’ understanding of history.
