Explore Lower East Side History with Henry Street Settlement, Museum at Eldridge Street, Museum of Chinese in America, and the Tenement Museum!

Open to: All Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: For the past 400 years, communities of immigrants and migrants—German, Irish, Black, Chinese, Jewish, Puerto Rican— arrived in the Lower East Side to begin new chapters of their lives, adapt their traditions to urban American life, and transform the city through the way they responded to challenges of work, housing, and discrimination. Join Henry Street Settlement, Museum at Eldridge Street, Museum of Chinese in America, and the Tenement Museum as we celebrate the 400th anniversary of NYC. Meet museum staff and learn about the trips and resources designed to support immigration units and enrich your students’ understanding of their city.
